Moreover, a synthetic organic or silicone fluid’s maximum recommended use temperature is indicative of the fluid’s high-temperature thermal stability despite its initial purchase cost which will lower long-term because these fluids don’t degrade like typical hydrocarbon fluids and as a result, rarely need replacing.

HTF Differences
 
Propylene Glycol has a slightly higher viscosity, slightly lower heat transfer efficiency, does not perform quite as well in colder temperatures as Ethylene Glycol, however the advantage of Propylene Glycol over Ethylene Glycol is a lower acute oral toxicity while Synthetic Organic/Silicone Fluids offer exceptional thermal stability, low viscosity meaning more exceptional heat transfer performances, longer fluid and service life.
 
Properties of HTF
 
              Low freeze point, high boiling/flash point, high thermal conductivity, high specific heat, low viscosity, low vapor pressure, high thermal stability, high degree of material compatibility, and high level of environmental friendliness. Regular Duty formulated products should be used in applications that operate between -60 degrees F and 250 degrees F. Heavy Duty formulated products should be used in applications where the temperature exceeds 250 degrees F continuously or intermittently for a significant portion of the time.

Regular Duty - Office Buildings, Schools, Universities, Hospitals, Hotels, Apartment Buildings, Resorts, and Residences. Others include process cooling, ice skating rinks,sidewalk de-icing, and food processing and storage facilities.
 
Heavy Duty - Large Stationary Engines, Natural Gas Line Heaters, Refinery Heating and Cooling, Chemical Process Plants, Pulp and Paper Process Plants, Steel Mills, High-Temperature Plastic Injection Molding Plants, Asphalt Melting Operations, and Solar Heating Systems.
